Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the medical practice of Dr. Christine Maren, D.O. (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit drchristinemaren.com, sign up for our newsletter, download a guide, contact us or apply to become a patient.

What this policy covers

This policy covers information collected through this website. It does not cover the medical records we create when we care for you as a patient. Your health information as a patient is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and is described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive when you become a patient and can request at any time.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter and guide sign-ups: your name and email address.
  • Contact, media, event and mentorship forms: your name, email address, phone number, your message and any details you choose to include, such as your practice or the event you are asking about.
  • Patient application: your contact details, the state you live in, and the goals and concerns you choose to describe so we can see whether our care is a good fit. The application is hosted by our form provider, Typeform.
  • Emails and calls: anything you send or tell us directly.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, our servers and analytics tools receive standard technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you and the date and time of your visit. When you submit a form, we store a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and your browser type to block spam, and our email provider may receive your IP address with a newsletter sign-up.

Health information and website forms

Website forms and regular email are not secure channels for medical information. Please do not use them to send symptoms, diagnoses, lab results or other medical details, and never use them for urgent needs. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you choose to describe health concerns in the patient application, we use that information only to review your application and contact you. Once you become a patient, we collect your full health history through our secure patient portal, and that information is handled under HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.

How we use information

  • To respond to your questions and requests.
  • To review patient applications, contact you about next steps and schedule a discovery call.
  • To send the newsletter, guides and updates you signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • To understand how the site is used, fix problems and improve our content.
  • To keep the site and our forms secure and to prevent spam and fraud.
  • To meet legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure visits, page views, scrolling, video plays, downloads and button clicks such as starting an application. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology, and Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Do Not Track: there is no common standard for Do Not Track browser signals, so the site does not respond to them. We do not use advertising pixels or track you across other companies’ websites for advertising.

Embedded content: some pages include videos, podcasts or audio from YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. These services may set their own cookies and collect information when you play or interact with the embedded content, under their own privacy policies.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the website and our practice:

  • Service providers that work on our behalf and may only use the information to provide their service: website hosting and database services, our email marketing provider (ActiveCampaign), our application form provider (Typeform) and our analytics provider (Google).
  • Legal reasons: when required by law, court order or professional rules, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our patients, our practice or others.
  • Business changes: if our practice is reorganized, merged or sold, information may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to protect it.

Our site links to other websites, including product pages. Some are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Our supplement store is provided by Fullscript. When you visit Fullscript or any other linked site, that company’s privacy policy applies, and we do not control how it collects or uses your information.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form messages and application details for as long as needed to respond, consider your request and meet record-keeping obligations. We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics settings.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time with the link at the bottom of any newsletter.
  • Access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you from this website.
  • Opt out of any future sale of your information or its use for targeted advertising. We do neither today.

Residents of some states, including California and Colorado, have these rights under state privacy laws, and we extend them to every visitor. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will confirm your request, may need to verify your identity, and will respond within 45 days. You can use an authorized agent, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to your appeal within 45 days.

Children’s privacy

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
