"The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison”

About Ella Soderholm, Functional Medicine Nurse & Holistic Nutritionist

Ella Soderholm is a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Master Nutrition Therapist (MNT). She has worked in the healthcare industry for over 15 years, with the past 8 years dedicated to Functional Medicine and Nutrition.

Ella’s nursing career began in the Operating Room, followed by many years in Public Health. She has always felt a strong pull to work in chronic disease prevention, but found traditional medicine offered limited opportunities and solutions.

It was through her own struggle with autoimmune disease that Ella found her “forever home” in functional medicine.

As a patient, she discovered that conventional medicine’s band-aid approach did not provide the healing she needed. It was only through her discovery of functional medicine that her health was finally and fully restored.

This inspired Ella to make a career change that better aligned with her new health philosophy. She completed her Master Nutrition Therapist (MNT) certification through the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, CO in 2015.

The combination of Ella’s nursing and nutrition backgrounds help her provide a holistic, science-based approach to individualized integrative care. She is also First Line Therapy Certified, and believes that 90% of disease management comes from diet and lifestyle changes.

Ella Joined Dr. Maren’s Practice in 2022 as a Functional Nutritionist.

Ella helps patients heal by addressing the root cause of illness through personalized nutrition and lifestyle modifications.

She has a wide array of experience with many different types of clients and conditions, and specializes in gut health, autoimmune disease, weight loss, and metabolic conditions.

Ella is a wife and mom to two crazy towheaded kids, 9 chickens and a red haired dog.

In her free time you can typically find her chasing kids, handing out eggs to neighbors, seeing live music, hanging with friends, spending time at her cabin in the Colorado mountains, or taking a hot yoga class. She also loves to cook, and takes pride in feeding her family well.

Ella sees new and established clients via Dr. Maren’s telemedicine programs.

My Philosophy

I believe you must be an active participant in achieving true health. This means we work together as teammates to create success.

Nutrition is an integral part of wellness. Imagine putting diesel gas in an unleaded vehicle, it wouldn’t run well. The same goes for food. Eating the right foods for your body/condition can make all the difference for your health.

Food isn’t the only piece of the health puzzle. Lifestyle also plays a big role. You can eat a squeaky clean diet, but if you have chronic stress, aren’t exercising regularly, and don’t sleep well, you won’t find optimal health.

I believe that wellness is achievable and available to all. Our bodies intuitively know how to heal when given the right tools.

Your mindset plays a major role in your body’s ability to heal and maintain optimal health.

I believe in progress over perfection. Forward movement will not always look linear or perfect, and that is the beauty of it.

I believe we are all individuals with different needs who need individualized treatment plans.

I believe in diets that are sustainable for the long haul. You should love what you eat, and eating should be a pleasurable experience…not a stressful one. Although certain food restrictions may be necessary for the short-term, I use these principles sparingly.

My goal for your experience as a patient is for you to feel encompassed by compassion, collaboration, and empowerment. We are so glad you’ve made the choice to show up!
