If you would like to share recent labs with us, please upload them to your online chart under the 'Labs & Documents' tab of the portal. Click on the pink button "UPLOAD NEW DOCUMENT." Please upload relevant labs as a single report vs one page at a time. If you are doing this from home, you can utilize an app like TurboScan to create a multiple page PDF and upload that directly from your computer. You may also fax them to (303) 351-1100. Please do not mail hard copies to the office.
Dr. Maren sees patients in Colorado, Michigan and Texas only.

Jessica Doyle sees clients worldwide.

All of our visits are scheduled virtually via telehealth. Our office is very familiar with virtual consultations and we've been working with patients remotely for over 4 years (way before telehealth became a thing with Covid-19).

We know that fitting in self care is a challenge. Telemedicine is a modern day solution that makes getting good care more convenient... No waiting in a doctor's office and less time away from work and family.

Our practice was built to facilitate virtual consultations, and connecting with patients remotely is easy. There’s no need for fancy software on your end, as long as you're comfortable with using the internet and communicating online.

Lab orders, lab results, supplement recommendations, actionable plans and handouts will all be readily available from your online patient portal. Functional medicine lab kits and supplements can be shipped directly to your house, and prescriptions can be sent to your local pharmacy. You'll have direct access to our team through portal messaging between visits.

Initial consultations are done via secure video, and follow ups can be by phone or secure video.
Here’s how online scheduling works:
  • Register as a patient before scheduling your first appointment.
  • Read and sign the Policies & Consents within the patient portal under the Questionnaires tab.
  • If you are already registered as a patient, you can log on to the patient portal here.
  • Follow the Request Appointment icon on the right side of your screen & use the drop down menu to request an appointment date and time.
  • You will be asked to enter payment information in order to request an appointment, and new patients will be charged a deposit once your appointment is confirmed.
  • We will check our schedule and confirm your appointment by email (watch for an email from
  • Fill out the New Patient Questionnaires or Follow Up Questionnaires as soon as possible.
Please reach out to us if you have additional questions or wish to communicate with someone prior to scheduling.

Email is the best and most efficient way to contact us. You can reach us directly at

If you wish to call, our phone number is (303) 704-4487. If we are unable to pick up your phone call, please leave a message and our office staff will do our best to respond within 1-2 business days.

Please note: the office is not open on nights, weekends or holidays.

Functional Medicine and nutrition consultations may or may not be covered by your insurance plan. We encourage you to call the customer care number on your insurance card to find out if your plan covers an “out of network” doctor and/or nutritionist. We do not bill insurance directly but will give you an itemized receipt for services, which you may submit for reimbursement. You may also use pre-tax dollars from a Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for your consultations and lab fees. Dr. Maren is not a participating provider in Medicaid or Medicare. You can read more about why we do not bill insurance directly here.
As of Sept. 1, 2020 the initial functional medicine consultation with Dr. Maren is $900 and includes a complimentary consultation with our nutritionist. Follow up visits with Dr. Maren are generally 30 minutes and charged based on time at $600 per hour (i.e. a 30 min visit is $300).

The initial holistic nutrition consultation with Jessica Doyle, CNTP RN is $200. Follow up visits with Jessica are generally 30 min and charged based on time at $100 per half-hour. Established patients of Dr. Maren get a 30% discount on all nutrition visits.

These fees do not include lab work or supplements, please read below.
Conventional labs (Quest, LabCorp, CPL) can bill insurance directly - this should be done at your discretion, and I encourage you to call the customer care number on your insurance card to make sure you are using an in-network lab. We have negotiated cash pay rates through Quest for patients who are not billing through insurance, or for Medicare patients.

Functional medicine labs are largely cash-pay, but we offer the ability to bill through insurance when possible. Costs are transparent and we will discuss pricing of these labs during your visit, as they will require an investment on your part. Most patients invest an average of $500-$1500 in advanced lab testing at their initial visit.
Dr. Maren orders a comprehensive diagnostic panel through conventional labs like Quest or LabCorp. She also orders specialized functional laboratory testing through GI Map, Doctor's Data, Great Plains, Genova, DUTCH, CYREX, Nutrition Genome and others. This includes but is not limited to comprehensive stool testing, urine organic acids, nutrient levels, food sensitivity, complete hormones, cortisol (adrenal), heavy metals, genetics, mycotoxins and environmental chemicals.
For almost everyone, supplements are an important aspect of the treatment plan. We will work together to develop a clear and specific supplement plan based on your unique needs - with consideration given to digestion/absorption, nutrigenomics, micronutrient deficiencies, etc.

Which means: we'll tell you exactly which vitamins or supplements you need (or don't need).

You'll have discounted access to prescription quality supplements through FullScript, Xymogen and others. We only recommend personally vetted companies with the highest quality standards and 3rd party testing.

When you order supplements through my dispensaries, you will get a significant discount from MSRP. However, you should still budget $200-300 for the cost of supplements during the first few months of treatment.
Yes - Dr. Maren prescribes all types of thyroid hormones, medications to treat gut infections, and others.

She will try to minimize prescription medication whenever possible, and use safer alternatives when they exist. However, prescription medications are sometimes warranted, and she will recommend them when they are in your best interest.

Based on the nature of our practice, Dr. Maren does not prescribe any controlled substances.
Please be courteous and provide at least 48 business hours (2 business days) notice for all cancelled or rescheduled appointments. This helps ensure that we can run an efficient and effective practice, and meet the needs of other patients who are waiting to get an appointment.

There is a fee associated with no shows, cancellations or rescheduled appointments made within 48 business hours of your original appointment time.

The new patient deposit is non-refundable and will be forfeited if you cancel. Should you need to reschedule, this deposit can be applied to a future visit if you reschedule at least 48 business hours prior to your original appointment time.

You may reschedule your appointment through the patient portal up to 72 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. For cancellations, please call the office at (303) 704-4487 or email
Although Dr. Maren is board-certified in family medicine, she specializes in functional medicine and our practice structure does not allow her to be available at the level of acuity necessary for a primary care practice. Dr. Maren is a functional medicine consultant, and requires that you maintain your primary care physician (PCP) for routine screening exams such as pap smears, colonoscopies, prostate exams, etc. and for urgent situations requiring immediate care or hospitalization. She is happy to work collaboratively with your PCP and/or specialists and asks that you continue that relationship.
Short answer - YES.

Both Dr. Maren and Jessica consult with guys on the regular. Our practice is about 20% men, mostly referred by their wives:)

We also see adolescents and children on a limited basis. Please contact us so we can tell you if we are a good fit, or point you in the right direction.

If you are interested in a more customized plan for supplements, testing and nutrition, we highly recommend the Nutrition Genome DNA Kit. This report looks at nutrigenomics, which is the study of how foods affect our genes, and how genetic differences affect the way we respond to food. You can order this test yourself here. Be aware that results often take 5-6 weeks.
